The first step starts with a rough sketch, Chris takes this to the studio where he and the rest of the artists go over it, change it and finalise it.
The next step is to make a mini sculpture, this helps get the whole thing into proportion. Then we make the life size sculpture, it might take a few attempts to get it perfect, once done it is polished and varnished and ready for shipping.
We pack our containers in Nairobi, we have a great team headed by Wachira, he really maximizes the container space, filling in all the gaps. We then put the container on a train and send it to the port in Mombasa. Here it is inspected by Kenyan custom officers and Kenyan wildlife officers. Next we load it onto the ship destined for Felixstowe, via the Red Sea.
At Felixstowe it is inspected by UK customs officers, taxes and fees are paid then the container is loaded on to a truck and delivered here in Solihull where you can look and enjoy the sculptures.
